  • Make sure your thermostat is set to “On” and in the “Cooling” mode.
  • Check your circuit breaker to ensure that you have not had a nuisance trip and your heat system does have power.
  • Check your heating system switch to make sure it is “On”. This is typically an older toggle switch and may or may not have a Red cover plate.
  • If your breaker or system switch was off, after turning the power on, give it a few minutes: many systems have a built-in time delay.
  • Check your furnace filter. It has not been changed recently change it.
  • Check the condition of your outdoor unit coil. Is it obstructed with leaves or other debris? If so, if it is possible to clear the obstruction do so while being careful not to damage the coil.
